The Pros and Cons Renting DVC Points

Are you planning a fun-filled Disney vacation for yourself and your family? While you might not be a member of the Disney Vacation Club, there’s still a way that you can take advantage of all the perks associated with being one.

You can rent DVC points and cash them in for luxury accommodations while you’re at the resort. When you rent points, you’ll get a link to the app where you can plan out your entire vacation.

The best part is that there are no long-term contracts involved, and there are a ton of DVC discounts and savings that you can use. Check out this guide to learn more.

What Are DVC Points?

Before we talk about the benefits of renting points, let’s go over what the Disney vacation club is. In short, it’s a points-based timeshare.

Members sign a contract that entitles them to a certain number of points that they can cash in on a luxury family vacation. Unlike many of the other types of timeshares, this one is pretty flexible. Families can decide when they want to go on vacation and even pick their resort.

As stated above, you don’t need a DVC membership to take advantage of the perks that come with being one. You can rent points from members.

Renting points does take a few days. Go here to see the estimated timeline for DVC resales

Cost Savings

You can use your rented points to book luxury accommodations at the same cost you would at a regular hotel.

Disney offers a lot of great discounts throughout the year, but they can be unpredictable. Most vacationers don’t even know what resorts are running promotions until after they’ve booked.

While renting DVC points won’t give you the inside scoop on discounts, you will get some guaranteed promotions. Who doesn’t love saving money

Luxury Accommodations

DVC members are allowed to book some of the best rooms at the deluxe Disney resorts. When you rent points, you’ll have your pick from one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom villas!

These villas offer all the comforts of home, including full kitchens, several bathrooms, and a washer and dryer.

No Long-Term Contracts

Renting points won’t lock you into a long-term commitment. You won’t have to pay for a membership after your vacation is over.

All you have to do is sign a rental contract and cash in your points. When you get home, you’ll never have to think about that contract again. That is unless you want to rent more points next year.

Are There Any Cons?

Nothing good comes without a few cons. As you can imagine, point rentals are in high demand. That means if you don’t act fast, you’ll be out of luck.

If something comes up that sets back your vacation plans, you won’t be able to refund the points. You’ll also be relying on the DVC member to book your accommodations for you.

All the Perks of Renting DVC Points

As you can see, there are a lot of perks involved with renting DVC points to book your Disney family vacation.

You can cash them in to book luxury accommodations and take advantage of the same discounts that Disney Vacation Club Members get. What’s not to love?
