7 Travel Destinations You Need to Visit Before You Die

With all the stresses of modern-day life, sometimes you need to check out and take a vacation. Now comes the hard part — deciding where to go.

First, think about what type of traveler you are. Do you like exploring cities, spending time in nature, or lounging on the beach? From there, do some research and see what various travel destinations have to offer.

Still too much work? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. Here are some of the best places to visit for every type of traveler.

1. Australia

Known as “The Land Down Under,” Australia has plenty of fantastic things to see. From world-class cities to sunny beaches to incredible natural wonders, there’s something for everyone here.

For those who love exploring cities, Sydney is a can’t-miss. In addition to iconic destinations like the Sydney Opera House, there are plenty of beaches and nature to explore nearby.

If you want a break from the hustle and bustle of the city, head over to the famous Bondi Beach for a day of fun in the sun. If you prefer getting out into nature, check out the Blue Mountains, about 70 miles west of Sydney.

2. Costa Rica

Costa Rica, which means “rich coast”, is one of the top travel destinations in Central America, and it’s not hard to see why. Between the beautiful weather, incredible beaches, and affordability, Costa Rica is a traveler’s paradise.

There are so many wonderful places to visit in Costa Rica, but one of the top vacation spots is Puerto Viejo. Located on the country’s Caribbean coast, this lively town is known for its excellent surf spots and nightlife.

If you’re looking for somewhere to stay in Puerto Viejo, check out Le Cameleon Boutique Hotel. They offer rooms with beachfront access, wellness programs, and a range of other amenities.

3. Croatia

Croatia is known for its medieval cities, stunning beaches, and epic national parks. One of the first places many tourists flock to is the Old Town in Dubrovnik, made famous as one of the filming locations for the hit HBO drama Game of Thrones. If you want to experience history and culture with fewer crowds, head over to the capital city of Zagreb or the seaside village of Korcula.

With nearly 1,200 islands nearby, island-hopping is a must when you visit Croatia. While islands span the entire coastline, the best ones to visit are along the central and southern coasts. Head over to the town of Split as a starting point for visiting some of Croatia’s most popular islands like Brac and Hvar.

A trip to Croatia wouldn’t be complete without visiting some of its incredible national parks. Plitvice Lakes National Park is one of the most popular and one of the most stunning places to visit in Croatia. Don’t miss out on the pristine scenery of Krka National Park either.

4. Iceland

Often called “The Land of Ice and Fire,” Iceland is home to stunning natural landscapes like nowhere else in the world. One of the country’s most popular activities is touring the Golden Circle, which includes stops at Geysir, Gullfoss waterfall, and Thingvellir National Park.

With its location near the Arctic Circle, Iceland is one of the best places to view the Aurora Borealis, also known as the Northern Lights. The country is also full of beautiful waterfalls, active volcanoes, and hot springs, making it a truly unique place to visit.

While most people visit Iceland for adventures in nature, there are a few can’t-miss cities and towns as well. The capital of Iceland, Reykjavik, is a vibrant city with lots of amazing attractions. If you’re exploring the northern part of Iceland, spend some time in Akureyri with its quaint old town and lovely botanical gardens.

5. Indonesia

Indonesia is a popular vacation spot for both beachgoers and nature lovers. The island of Bali is one of the country’s most visited spots, known for its beautiful beaches, stunning landscapes, and culture of spirituality. For a less crowded but just as impressive destination, head over to Lombok on the Gili Islands.

If you’ve ever dreamed of seeing orangutans in the wild, Indonesia is the place to go. Some of the best places to spot these creatures are Tanjung Puting National Park on the island of Borneo and Gunung Leuser National Park on the island of Sumatra. Another great place to see native wildlife is Komodo National Park, home of the eponymous Komodo dragon.

6. Morocco

With its historic, yet bustling cities and its diverse landscapes, there’s something for everyone in Morocco. Marrakesh is at the top of many travelers’ bucket lists, but don’t forget about other cities like Casablanca, Essaouira, and Fez. Also high on many bucket lists is Chefchaouen, known as “The Blue City.”

If you need a break from cities, take a trip to Morocco’s Atlas Mountains, which you can reach easily from Marrakesh. For a different type of adventure, take a camping trip in the Sahara Desert. Make sure to travel with a guide as the desert is vast and remote.

7. Peru

Due to its incredible natural beauty, rich history, and delicious cuisine, Peru is one of the top places to visit in South America. No trip to Peru would be complete without a visit to Machu Picchu. Perched high up in the Andes mountains, this ancient Incan city is truly a site to behold.

On your way to Machu Picchu be sure to stop in Cusco, once the capital of the Incan empire. The city features its own impressive ruins along with a lively old town. The towns of Pisac and Ollantaytambo in the Sacred Valley are also must-visits.

Back at sea level, make sure to stop by the capital city of Lima. It features beautiful beaches, artsy neighborhoods, and a world-class culinary scene.
